Vol. 483 No. 6

Written Answers. - Public Order.

Denis Naughten

Question:

399 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the measures, if any, he is putting place to solve the serious public order problems facing the town of Balaghaderreen, County Roscommon. [21342/97]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that special late-night foot patrols have been introduced on the weekends as a response to public order problems and that a number of arrests have been made under public order legislation. Since the introduction of the special patrols the problem has been almost completely eliminated. The Garda has informed me that the area will continue to receive appropriate attention.
