I refer to the reply to Question No. 128 of 27 November 1997. I have no information as to the number of local authorities which have undertaken or completed energy audits of their operation. However, I draw the Deputy's attention to the information concerning local energy agencies contained in Ireland's Second National Communication under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library. These agencies, established under the SAVE II programme, are aimed at making the most of local energy sources, improving energy efficiency and seeking optimum energy supply conditions for regional and urban areas.
