Vol. 496 No. 5

Written Answers. - Designated Areas.

Denis Naughten

Question:

137 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands when she received the reports from officials within her Department on discussions which took place with bog owners in west Roscommon; the conclusions, if any, reached in these discussions; the changes, if any, in designation following these discussions; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23266/98]

I was appraised of discussions which took place with bog owners immediately after the meetings which took place locally on 10 and 11 September 1998 and which I assume, are those referred to by the Deputy.

The meetings were called mainly to provide information and to discuss the views of both sides. There were no changes in designation as a result of the discussions.
