Vol. 519 No. 2

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

147 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 is entitled to optical benefit as a medical card holder, without reference to his social welfare contributions. [13246/00]

Adult medical card holders are entitled to avail of services under the adult sight testing and provision of spectacles schemes operated by the health boards.

I have asked the chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate the position in relation to the specific case raised and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
