Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ophthalmic Services.

Michael Ring

Question:

590 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when an eye test will be arranged for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the length of time she has been waiting to be called to Castlebar, County Mayo; and if he will intervene on behalf of this person to arrange an eye test on an alternative day. [24635/00]

The provision of ophthalmic services for eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board. I have asked the chief executive officer of that board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
