Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

352 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he can provide reassurances to residents near the proposed location for his Department's research, testing, science and control laboratories that there will be no hazards to public health arising from tests on diseased animals, meats, or on various pesticides; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30538/00]

I understand that the Deputy is referring to the proposed relocation of my Department's laboratories currently situated in Abbotstown, County Dublin. I would advise the Deputy that the new laboratory facilities have been designed by a leading firm of consultants with expertise in this area in conjunction with experts in the UK and USA.
