958 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her Department has submitted the final proposals to the EU for bogs designated as SPCs; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1639/01]
My Department has transmitted to the EU Commission its proposals for SAC designations in respect of bog sites already advertised in accordance with the European Communities (Natural Habitats) Regulations, 1997. In the context of the EU-wide process for the evaluation of national proposals, the European Commission has asked us to consider whether there are additional raised bog sites that should be proposed for designation. My Department is considering this question.
