Question:

321 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if it is planned to extend the hours of operation at St. Joseph's casualty unit, Longford, to provide seven day, 24 hour coverage. [11331/02]

The Midland Health Board is currently developing an out of hours GP structure throughout the board's area. It is anticipated that the development of this structure will facilitate the provision of appropriate out of hours GP cover on a 24 hour, seven day basis and will address any deficiencies in service in the Longford area.

322 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Longford will be given an appointment for an operation. [11332/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services to persons living in County Longford rests with the Midland Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.

324 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Health and Children if a person (details supplied) in County Sligo can be called for treatment in Letterkenny General Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11344/02]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services to residents of County Sligo rests with the North-Western Health Board. Therefore, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
