Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

346 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health and Children if specific funding will be made available to the South-Eastern Health Board to enable urgent repairs to be carried out to a house on behalf of a person (details supplied) in Wexford under the housing aid for the elderly scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6451/03]

The special housing aid scheme for the elderly is funded by the Department of the Environment and Local Government, which has overall responsibility for the scheme. That Department has made a grant of €1.21 million available to the South-Eastern Health Board to fund the scheme in 2003. My Department has asked the board's chief executive officer to write to the Deputy, setting out the position in relation to the person in question.
