Denis Naughten

Question:

285 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if funding will be approved for Happylands Playschool, County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28922/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 284 and 285 together.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the application referred to by the Deputy is an application for a duplicate land certificate which was lodged on 29 March, 2001. Application No. D2001CR002332V refers. I am further informed that the actual land certificate which was missing related to another folio, which now forms part of the folio umber referred to by the Deputy and that, on foot of ongoing correspondence with the lodging solicitor, the solicitor informed the Land Registry that the land certificate was located on 8 October 2003. On 13 October 2003 the application for a duplicate land certificate in this regard was withdrawn.
An application for a new land certificate on the folio number referred to by the Deputy was lodged on 9 October 2003. Application No. S2003CR000936D refers. I understand that this land certificate cannot issue until the transfer of part pending on this folio, which was lodged on 30 September 2003, has been completed. Dealing No. D2003CR008496U refers. However, I can assure the Deputy that these applications are receiving attention in the Land Registry. I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 275, of Tuesday, 25 November 2003.
A grant application for capital grant assistance from the 2000-2006 equal opportunities child care programme was received from this private childcare provider in August 2003. All applications for grant assistance undergo a thorough assessment and appraisal process against the programme criteria by Area Development Management Ltd. I have made enquiries with the childcare directorate and have been informed that this applicant has recently submitted the outstanding information which is required to enable the assessment process to continue.
When the appraisal process is completed, this application will be considered by the programme appraisal committee, chaired by my Department, for a recommendation before I make a final decision. It would be premature of me to comment further on this application for capital grant assistance to the completion of its appraisal.
