168 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the status of the application made by Nano Nagle School, Listowel, for a child care assistant. [30197/03]

170 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will examine the circumstances of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry whose safety at Nano Nagle School, Listowel, is dependent on the availability of a child care assistant. [30199/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 168 to 170, inclusive, together.

I can confirm that my Department received an application for special needs assistant support for the pupil referred to by the Deputy. I understand from my officials that the school in question currently has the services of 23 special needs assistants.

My officials will be in contact with the authorities of the school in question regarding the outcome of the application.
