The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence will meet Minister Simon Coveney tomorrow, Tuesday 7 September to receive clarification on issues arising from his appearance before the Committee last week to discuss the appointment of special envoys.
The meeting will take place in Leinster House, Committee Room 3 at 10am.
Committee Cathaoirleach Charlie Flanagan TD said: “The appointment of special envoys and in particular, the circumstances around the proposed appointment of Katherine Zappone to a special envoy role has been the source of considerable controversy and debate for some weeks now.
“The Committee welcomes the opportunity to again speak with Minister Coveney to seek further clarification on certain matters raised during last week’s meeting. Members will have an opportunity to raise questions tomorrow on this issue before the Committee commences its planned busy autumn work schedule.”
