26 Jan 2022, 16:00

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 27 January, for an update on National Broadband Ireland and the National Broadband Plan.

The meeting at 1.30pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House will hear from representatives of National Broadband Ireland (NBI).

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said: “The Committee welcomes this further update from NBI on the roll-out of the National Broadband Plan, one of the most critical public infrastructure projects in the history of the State.

“Members look forward to an update on the reasons for delays in the roll-out, together with the number of homes connected to date and the number of homes to be connected in the coming months, the latest timescale for expanding the roll-out and how NBI plans to make up for delays.”

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
