Joint Committee on Transport and Communications to carry out pre-legislative scrutiny of Communications Regulation (Enforcement) Bill

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 23 February, to carry out pre-legislative scrutiny on the Communications Regulation (Enforcement) Bill at 1:30pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.

The Committee will hear from officials from the Department of Environment, Climate & Communications and representatives from ComReg. 

The Bill aims to achieve 5 objectives; Enforcement, A New Civil and Updated Criminal Enforcement Regime for ComReg, Security, New Consumer Protection Measures, Amendments to the Act of 2002.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to discuss the objectives set out for the Bill and to hear from (ComReg) on its powers of enforcement, with their focus on improving competition, innovation and customer service within the communications sector.”

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
