Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth to discuss the response by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth to the Ukrainian crisis

The Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth will meet to discuss the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth’s response to the Ukrainian crisis, tomorrow, Tuesday, 17 May.

The meeting will be in 2 sessions and will be broadcast from Committee Room 4 at 3pm and the discussion will include submissions from:

Session 1

Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth, Roderic O’Gorman TD, and Officials

Session 2

Secretary General of the Irish Red Cross Society, Mr Liam O’Dwyer
Chairperson of the Irish Red Cross Society, Mr Pat Carey
 

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Cathaoirleach of the Committee Deputy Kathleen Funchion said that “this meeting will be a welcome opportunity for the Committee to get an informed insight from the Department on one of the most important aspects of the Government’s response to the on-going war in Ukraine.

We will look to see what additional measures could be introduced in order to alleviate the trauma on the children who are here already and what can be done to help those yet to arrive”. 

The Joint Committee on Children, Disability, Equality, Integration & Youth has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
