Joint Committee on Transport and Communications to discuss issues affecting Delays at NCT Centres,Issuing & renewal of Driving Licences & the recognition & processing of non-EU/EAA Driving Licences

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 12 October with the RSA (Road Safety Authority) to discuss the issues surrounding the delays in obtaining an appointment at NCT Centres, delays with the issuing and renewal of Driving Licences as well as the recognition and processing of non-EU/EEA Driving Licences at 13:30 in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House. 

The meeting will hear from:

·       Sam Waide, CEO, Road Safety Authority

·       Brendan Walsh, Chief Operations Officer, Road Safety Authority

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kieran O’Donnell said: “The Committee welcomes the opportunity to meet with the Road Safety Authority CEO, Sam Waide and his management team to discuss the current delays in obtaining an appointment at NCT Centres, delays with the issuing and renewal of Driving Licences as well as the recognition and delays in the processing of non-EU/EEA Driving Licences.

“Members are looking forward to hearing the reasons for these delays and what measures are being put in place to reduce these backlogs and to minimise the impact here on drivers and businesses.”

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
