Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth to resume engagement on issues regarding Integration and Refugees

The meeting in 2 sessions will be broadcast from Committee Room 4 at 3pm and the discussion will hear from:

Session 1

·       Mr Doncha O’Sullivan, Deputy Secretary General, Department of Justice.

·       Mr David Delaney, Director of Immigration Service Delivery, Department of Justice

·       Ms Emer Mullins, Principal Officer, International Protection Office, Department of Justice.

Session 2

·       Ms Sheenagh Rooney, Assistant Secretary, Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.

·       Ms Carol Baxter, Assistant Secretary, Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.

·       Mr Michael Walsh, Chief Executive, Waterford City and County Council

·       Ms Sinead Carr, Director of Service, Tipperary County Council

·       Ms Niamh McCarthy, National Coordinator, Emergency Vacant Home Delivery (Ukriane) Unit .

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Kathleen Funchion TD said “we resume our discussion on Integration and Refugee issues with those stakeholders charged with providing the services for successful integration tomorrow.

We will look to get first-hand insights on issues impacting refugees when they come to Ireland to integrate into our society. Our Members will continue to demonstrate its support for all refugees coming to our country from across the world. Ireland has remained steadfast in welcoming refugees, and we continue to stand ready to provide all the support and necessary resources for people looking for safety in Ireland.”
