30 May 2023, 13:10

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will meet tomorrow, Wednesday 31st  May 2023 for discussion on a Common Vision for Cyber Security in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.

The meeting will hear from representatives from:

·       4Securitas

·       Ward Solutions & Cyber Ireland

·       Cyber Skills Training

·       Cyber Security Munster Technological University (MTU)

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Leas-Chathaoirleach Senator Gerry Horkan said “we see more and more the widespread consequences of cyber attacks both in Ireland and abroad. The Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs heard from the National Cyber Security Centre last week on Ireland’s ‘significant volumes’ of assistance to Ukraine. A Common Vision for Cyber Security is essential for Ireland and helps us better protect our citizens.

We look forward to engaging with the stakeholders tomorrow in order to gain their invaluable points of view and technical insights into shaping that Common Vision”

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
