Disability Matters Committee to discuss the National Disability Inclusion Strategy with the National Disability Authority and the National Disability Inclusion Strategy

The Joint Committee on Disability Matters will meet on Wednesday September 20th to discuss the national disability inclusion strategy.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House.

The following representatives are due to appear.

  • Dr. Aideen Hartney, Director - National Disability Authority
  • Dr Rosalyn Tamming, Head of Policy, Research and Public Affairs National Disability Authority,
  • Renée Dempsey-Clifford, Independent Chair, Disability Stakeholder Group (DSG),
  • Dharragh Hunt, Member, Disability Stakeholder Group (DSG),

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Michael Moynihan said: “We welcome the opportunity to resume our discussions on the National Disability Inclusion Strategy.

“The National Disability Inclusion Strategy is a whole-of-Government approach to improving the lives of people with disabilities which supports progress in delivering on the obligations in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) which was ratified in March 2018.”

“The coming weeks and months will see further work advanced to consult and engage with DPOs and other stakeholders to inform the UNCRPD Implementation Strategy and there is a need to ensure continued momentum in realising the rights of disabled people.”
