The Committee on Budgetary Oversight will meet today, Wednesday 27th September for Pre-Budget Engagement with Minister for Finance, Michael McGrath TD and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform, Paschal Donohoe TD at 5:30pm in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Committee Cathaoirleach Barry Cowen TD said “Following our meeting last week with the Central Bank and ESRI , the Committee will turn its focus to the Ministers directly tasked with the formulation of the Budget. Our meeting today allows this Committee to get first-hand information from the Ministers after their meeting on Monday with the Party leaders on the Budget. We will look for information on how the economy is performing and updated parameters for the Budget.
The Committee continues to support the balance the Government has to strike between the investment in public services and the need to maintain public finances on a sustainable footing in the current inflationary environment.”
