Vol. 363 No. 10

Written Answers. - Decline in Manufacturing Output.

15.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism if he is aware of the fall in manufacturing output in 1985; the reasons for this fall; and the plans he has to stimulate growth in the manufacturing sector.

There are no firm data available as yet on the outturn in manufacturing output for 1985. However, figures from the Central Statistics Office for the ten month period up to the end of October 1985 show that manufacturing output grew by 4 per cent. The plans for stimulating growth in the manufacturing sector are set out in the White Paper on Industrial Policy, published in July 1984.
