Vol. 475 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

224 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education the situation regarding the tendering/ contract progress for phase 2 of Diswellstown Community College in view of local concerns regarding the substantially qualified status of the project within the 1997 Capital Programme. [5169/97]

Provision has been made in the 1997 Capital Programme for the construction of phase two of Castleknock Community College. The present position is that the architectural planning of the project has been initiated and County Dublin vocational education committee's design team has been requested to submit a site report for the proposed development. When the report has been found to be satisfactory, the project will proceed to the next stage of planning which is the outline sketch scheme.

The project will continue to be accorded a high priority in my Department and every effort will be made to ensure that the planning of the project is completed as quickly as possible with a view to inviting tenders immediately and building starting forthwith.
