Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pre-budget Submissions.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

292 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he has received pre-budget submissions from an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 8; if so, if he will give favourable consideration to the submission; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21272/99]

I have received a pre-budget submission from the organisation referred to. As is the case with all pre-budget submissions, I can assure the Deputy that the matters raised will be borne in mind in the preparation of the forthcoming budget.

Question:

293 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he has received submissions in respect of tax relief for charities; if so, if he will consider these in the context of the forthcoming budget; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21278/99]

I have received a number of pre-budget submissions in respect of tax relief for charities. As is the case with all pre-budget submissions I can assure the Deputy that the matters raised will be borne in mind in the preparation of the forthcoming budget.

I would like to point out to the Deputy that when tax relief for corporate donations to domestic charities was originally sought it was on the strict understanding that it would not be extended to include personal donations.
