CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OFFICERS' PAY.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that officers not yet formally commissioned are not receiving the rates of pay stated by him in the Dáil—viz.:—

	s.	d.
2nd Lieutenant	5	9 per day.
1st Lieutenant	6	9 ,,
Captain Etc.	7	9 ,,

And if he is aware that hundreds of officers not yet formally commissioned are only receiving the rate of £1 4s. 6d. per week; and if he can state when it is likely they will receive pay according to the above schedule.

General MULCAHY

I am not aware that any officers are not receiving the rates to which they are entitled, but I should be glad to be supplied with any detailed information upon which the Deputy bases his suggestion.

Mr. LYONS

I can give you full information about 150 officers who are in receipt of £1 4s. 6d. per week, and they are still wearing officers' uniform.
