Vol. 14 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - HOME HELP IN KANTURK.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that dissatisfaction exists among the poor of the Kanturk rural district at the hardship entailed on applicants for home help by there not being a resident relieving officer; and, if so, if he will take immediate steps to appoint a relieving officer for the district.

Some unavoidable disorganisation has arisen in this district owing to the home assistance officer having absconded. The matter has been receiving the special attention of the Commissioner. I have not information as to whether an appointment has yet been made, but I will ascertain the exact position from the Commissioner and will communicate with the Deputy.

Is the Minister aware that applications were received by the Commissioner about two months ago— I think there are nine or ten applicants?

I have not that information.

Is the Minister satisfied that the Commissioner is giving the matter attention?
