Vol. 37 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Landing Slips on Donegal Islands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware of the hardships experienced by the fishermen of the islands of Gola, Innishmeane and Innisherrer, owing to the fact that there are no suitable landing facilities on these islands; and whether, in view of the poverty existing amongst the fishermen and their dependents, he will make the necessary arrangements to have suitable landing slips constructed on each of these islands.

The provision of additional landing facilities on the Gaeltacht seaboard is being examined by a Departmental Committee. The need for further facilities on the islands referred to by the Deputy will receive due consideration.

Is the Minister prepared to make the necessary arrangements for the building of landing places in Innishmeane and Innisherrer?

That is the subject matter of an examination by the Departmental Committee.

In raising the other matter on the adjournment I would like to embody the subject matter of Question 17 also.
