Vol. 37 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Assets of C.D.B.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the value of the assets in cash and securities of the Congested Districts Board at the time of its dissolution, the value of such assets paid into or disposed of for the benefit of the Exchequer, and the total value of such assets not yet disposed of.

The estimated value of the assets in cash and securities of the Congested Districts Board at the time of its dissolution was £189,400. These assets were realised at various dates and the proceeds thereof, with accrued interest, were applied so far as necessary to meet the liabilities of the Board, the balance, amounting to £71,718, being paid over to the Exchequer as Extra Exchequer Receipts.

Will the Minister say if it is his intention to expend this money in the congested areas?

Any money voted for the congested areas will be spent there.
