Vol. 38 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Repairs in County Sligo.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware that serious loss and inconvenience has been caused to the tenants in the townland of Duneil, in the parish of Dromore West, County Sligo, as a result of the failure of the Land Commission to complete the repair of a road in that townland; and if he can now state when the Land Commission will complete the repair of this road.

In connection with the division of the untenanted lands of Duneil on the Mitchell estate, County Sligo, the Land Commission have constructed a road and repaired an existing old road to serve the allotments.

I understand the Land Commission have not finished portion of the road which they began in the townland of Duneil two or three years ago. It is to the necessity for completing this road that my question refers.

Both these roads have been finished.

My information is to the contrary. I was told that this particular road had not been finished. Perhaps it was finished very recently?

It was finished recently, but I could not give the exact date.

The Parliamentary Secretary should be in a position to give all the information.

I have given the information to the Deputy.

While the Parliamentary Secretary was engaged in political work in the district he actually inspected this road himself, and he gave a promise that it would be finished.

I do not inspect roads.
