Vol. 42 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Salmon Close Season.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will introduce proposals for legislation to repeal the law fixing a close season for the taking of salmon between 6 a.m. on Saturdays and 6 a.m. on Mondays, and if in the meantime, in view of the fact that the law in this respect has not operated in Cromane, Co. Kerry, since 1927 until recently, he will take the necessary steps to enable the same conditions to prevail pending the amendment of the Salmon Fishery Act of 1863.

I am not prepared to introduce legislation for curtailing the weekly close time for salmon net-fishing as fixed by the Salmon Fishery Act of 1863.
