Vol. 46 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rates on Viceregal Lodge.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether rates were paid on the premises known as the Viceregal Lodge, Phoenix Park, during the present financial year, and whether rates will be paid on the said premises during the coming financial year, and, if so, what is the estimated sum to be paid and why such sum does not appear in the Estimates for 1933-34.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, bounty in lieu of rates will be paid on the premises during the coming financial year if the premises are actually occupied for State purposes. In anticipation of their being so occupied, a sum of £820 has been included in the Estimate for Rates on Government Property for 1933-34 under the heading of "Other Services" in sub-head (a).

Arising out of the Parliamentary Secretary's reply to that question, is he prepared to say how many employees of the Viceregal Lodge have received notice of dismissal?

Certainly not, in answer to that question.
