Vote 14—Property Losses Compensation.

I move:—

Go ndeontar suim ná raghaidh thar £49,400 chun slánuithe na suime is gá chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1934, chun íocaíochtanna i dtaobh mille agus díobháil do Mhaoin fé sna Achtanna um Dhíobháil do Mhaoin (Cúiteamh), 1923 go 1926, agus ar shlite eile.

That a sum not exceeding £49,400 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1934, for payments in respect of destruction of, or injuries to, Property under the Damage to Property (Compensation) Acts, 1923 to 1926, and otherwise.

In that connection, it might be advisable to explain to the Dáil that, arising out of the Bill which is now going before the Oireachtas, it may be necessary to introduce a Supplementary Estimate later.

Would the Minister tell the House something about this Vote? He might say something on the general question as to what condition this Vote is in?

There is an estimate outstanding. Under the total amounts awarded in post-Truce and pre-Truce, there is a sum of £91,956, excluding interest, and a 10 per cent. increase.
