asked the Minister for Finance whether it is intended to make moneys available out of the Relief Schemes Grant for the drainage of the Mullaghnoe and Black Rivers on the Mayo-Sligo border, and if he is aware that such work would give much needed employment in that congested area.

I would refer the Deputy to the replies given to similar questions by him in March and June last. As the Mayo and Sligo County Councils have not since taken any action with regard to the comprehensive drainage scheme for the Moy and its tributaries, the position remains unchanged.
This appears to be a case which should be dealt with under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1925, rather than by a relief grant.
