asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state in respect of each of the years 1930 to 1935 inclusive (a) the quantity of carbonising coal imported from each source of supply and (b) the quantity of coal imported through each port by gas undertakings.

The term "carbonising" is not one of the Official Import List descriptions of coal for which importers are required to make declaration. I am circulating with the Official Report a statement of the quantity of gas coal imported from each country in each of the years 1930 to 1935. Particulars of the quantity of coal imported by gas undertakings are not available in my Department.
