Vol. 61 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that owing to the Clonmore River at Cahir, County Tipperary, having been dammed farmers in the area are unable to get a supply of water; if engineers from his Department inspected the river at this point and, if so, if he will state the report made by the engineers thereon and what steps it is intended to take to have a supply of water made available.

Complaints have been received from time to time regarding shortage of water in a stream at Clonmore, near Cahir, County Tipperary, arising from a diversion to augment the Cahir town water supply. The supply of water to Cahir Military Barracks, which is in the charge of the Commissioners of Public Works, is derived from the source of this stream. Inspections which have been made disclose that the shortage of water in the stream is not occasioned by the Barrack supply, as the diversion complained of is upstream of its intake, and consequently the Commissioners of Public Works have no functions in the matter, which would appear to be one for the owner of the Cahir town water supply.
