asked the Minister for Education (1) whether he will state the number of books in Irish issued by the Publications Section of his Department during the calendar year, 1936, distinguishing between (a) original works, and (b) translations; and (2) whether he will state the number of books in each class in the case of which the interval between the acceptance of the manuscript and the date of publication exceeded three months, and the numbers in which such interval exceeded six months, one year, two years, three years, four years, and so on.

As the answer to the Deputy's question is in the form of a tabular statement, I shall have it circulated in the Official Report.
(1) The number of books published in the calendar year 1936 was 63, of which (a) 28 were original works, and (b) 35 were translations.
(2) The following table gives particulars of the times which intervened between the acceptance of the manuscript of these books and their actual publication:—
