Vol. 75 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Damaged Roads (Mayo).

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that part of the road leading to the tillage lands of Martin Coyne and other tenants in the townland of Croaghrim, Tourmakeady, County Mayo, was swept away by floods in 1938; that it was inspected by the Board of Works engineers last autumn; and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken to have the road restored.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that James Salmon and 21 other tenants who cut turf in Hollywell Lower Bog requested the Land Commission last spring to repair the road to Hollywell Bog; that the Land Commission transmitted their request to the Office of Public Works for consideration as a minor employment scheme; and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken to have the necessary repairs carried out.

I propose to answer questions 7 and 8 together. The application referred to has been received and the proposal will be considered on its merits in competition with any other proposals for the area and in the light of the relative unemployment position in connection with the programme of minor employment schemes for the coming year.
