Vol. 81 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Live-stock Exports via Six Counties.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the number of live stock and the quantity of agricultural produce exported to Great Britain via the Six Counties has increased enormously during the last 12 months; whether he is aware that in this connection certain interests concerned in exporting live stock and agricultural products to Great Britain are favouring Six-County ports, and whether he is in a position to make a statement of Government policy in the matter.

Owing to circumstances arising out of the present emergency, there appears to have been some diversion of our exports to Northern Ireland ports, but I am satisfied that this is temporary.

Has any attempt been made to stop this racketeering on the Border?

What racketeering?

In order to answer the Deputy's question, I would have to accept an implication which I am not prepared to accept.
