asked the Minister for Education if he will state whether it is proposed to introduce, in the near future, a scheme for the purpose of providing pensions at the time of retirement for (a) teachers of literary subjects, and (b) trade teachers, in industrial schools; and, if so, whether he will state if the scheme will be introduced at an early date.

(a) It is intended to introduce a scheme providing pensions on certain conditions for lay literary teachers in industrial schools. (b) The scheme will not apply to trade teachers in these schools. It is hoped that the scheme will be ready for submission to the Oireachtas within the next two months.
