asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of men registering for work at the Employment Exchange, Passage West, County Cork (a) resident in the urban area, (b) resident in the rural area; also the number of men who were deprived of unemployment assistance through the operation of Employment Orders, 1942, at the Passage West Employment Exchange; further, if he will state the figures under the above headings for the following dates: 30th September, 1942; 30th June, 1942; 31st March, 1942; 31st December, 1941; 30th September, 1941; 30th June, 1941; 31st March, 1941.

The particulars required at (a) and (b) of the Deputy's question are not available for the precise dates indicated. Following are the numbers of men registering for work at the Branch Employment Office, Passage West, on the dates shown, distinguishing areas of residence:—

The numbers of men who were disallowed unemployment assistance through the operation of the Unemployment Assistance (Employment Period) Orders at Passage West Branch Employment Office were 61 in 1941 and 41 in 1942.
