Vol. 89 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Artificial Manures and Flax Exchange.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has received resolutions from the County Cavan Flax Growers' Association suggesting that he should demand a proportion of superphosphates and sulphate of ammonia in exchange for the flax exported from Éire.

I have received a resolution on the subject mentioned by the Deputy from Counties Monaghan and Cavan Flax Producers' Association.

The question of securing supplies of agricultural requisites in exchange for produce exported has already received careful attention.

Is there any possibility of getting any special manure for flax growers?

There is a small quantity of manure for flax growers, but we are directing our attention towards supplies for other agricultural purposes.

Is there any chance of getting any ammonia?

I do not think so.

Does the Minister say that there is a prospect of getting some manure in exchange for the flax?

Yes, for the flax crop.

If the Minister gets the manure for the flax, will he give the manure to the flax growers?
