Vol. 100 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Hospital Employee's Wages.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has received an application from the county manager for authority to grant an increase in wages to Mr. William Cahill, who is employed at the County Hospital, Kildare; when the proposal was received; and whether it is proposed to sanction the increase.

No application has been received in my Department for the granting of an increase in wages to Mr. Cahill. A proposal to grant an emergency bonus at the rate of 3/- a week payable as from the 1st July last to Mr. Cahill was received on the 9th ultimo. Mr. Cahill was in receipt of an emergency bonus at the rate of 3/- a week from the 21st July, 1943. As a proposal had been sanctioned on the 6th ultimo that the rate of emergency bonus payable to Mr. Cahill should be increased to 6/- a week from the 1st January, 1946, the matter was taken up with the manager. The manager has now intimated that it is proposed to allow the emergency bonus at the rate of 6/- a week to take effect as from the 1st January, 1946.
