Vol. 100 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acreage of Arable Land.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the acreage of arable land in each county, as determined by survey in connection with the Compulsory Tillage Order; and, if this survey is incomplete for any county, if he will state the area of the arable land as a percentage of the area of agricultural land surveyed.

The proportion of total holdings in each county in respect of which detailed surveys have been made is not sufficiently large to render possible the compilation of the return asked for by the Deputy.

Can the Minister give the area of arable land as a percentage of the area surveyed?

We surveyed 137,000 holdings out of 300,000 holdings over five acres.
