Vol. 102 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sunday Train Services.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will direct Córas Iompair Éireann to arrange for the provision of a suitable rail service on Sundays, during the months of August and September, between Enniscorthy and Rosslare, particularly in view of the appeals made to the company by the people of Enniscorthy and the improved fuel supply position.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there is any possibility of Córas Iompair Éireann arranging a Sunday train service between Kilkenny and Waterford during the summer months so that the local people may enjoy some of the health facilities which are provided for persons in other similar areas.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the reasons which led him to refuse sanction for the restoration of a Sunday summer train service between Kilkenny and Tramore; and whether, in view of the improvement in the railway's fuel position, he will now reconsider his decision and sanction the restoration of such service.

I propose to take questions Nos. 8, 9 and 10, together.

There has been some improvement in the coal supply position and I have authorised Córas Iompair Éireann to provide trains on a few Sundays in August to certain seaside resorts adjacent to a number of the larger towns, including Kilkenny and Enniscorthy.

Will the Minister say how many Sundays in August?

A few Sundays.

Three Sundays, I take it?

At least.
