asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total amount collected (1) in county health districts by way of poor rate; (2) in urban districts by way of (a) poor rate, and (b) rates other than poor rate; (3) in towns under town commissioners in rates other than poor rate; (4) in county boroughs by way of municipal and other rates; and (5) the gross total of rates collected, in the years ended 31st March, 1944, 1945 and 1946.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state for each county (a) the current poor rate; (b) the total agricultural grant; (c) the aggregate abatements under each of the headings— primary allowance, employment allowance and supplementary allowance; and (d) the number of workers and relatives for whom an employment allowance is granted.

The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

NOTES.

1. The figures in column 2 are the amounts assessed for general charges. In addition to these assessments there are separate charges aggregating to £150,980.

2. The figures in columns 3 to 6 are estimates based on returns furnished by county councils. The amount of the grant for the year ending 31st March, 1947, is not fixed and will depend on the amount of the allowances. Claims for employment allowances can be lodged at any time prior to 1st February, 1947, and the full amount of the grant cannot be finally ascertained before that date.
