Vol. 104 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Family's Bread Ration.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that Michael Durning, 8 Kinsealy Lane, Malahide, County Dublin, who has nine children, has received no bread rations since he left his ration books in a shop in Malahide, to have the essential pages removed; further, if he is aware that the local Gárdaí have informed him that he will have to complete ten application forms, with a shilling stamp on each form, before he may receive his rations; if, in view of this, he will take steps to have a supply of bread made available to this family; and if he is also aware that a similar position exists as regards some other families in the district.

As the Deputy is aware, the facts of this case were reported to me by him, and I arranged that supplies of bread would be made available to Mr. Durning. If Mr. Durning makes application for the replacement of the missing registration pages, I am prepared to waive the usual fee in the special circumstances of the case.

Other persons in Malahide who have lost the pages of their ration books applicable to flour and bread should apply to my Department when the question of having supplies made available pending the replacement of the pages will be considered.
