Vol. 104 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Water and Sewerage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has plans under consideration for a water and sewerage scheme for Donabate and Portrane; if so, if he will state when these plans will be sanctioned; and if there are no such plans before his Department if he will consider the provision of a water supply for the area from the Portrane Mental Hospital supply.

No plans have been submitted to my Department for the provision of a water supply for the Portrane-Donabate area, but it is understood that they are in preparation.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state if there are plans under consideration for a water and sewerage scheme for the village of Lusk; if so, when these plans will be sanctioned; and if there are no such plans with his Department if he will state if there is any possibility of a water and sewerage scheme being prepared for Lusk in the near future.

On the 11th June last the Commissioner for Dublin County Council was informed by my Department that before embarking on plans for the provision of a water supply for the Rush-Lusk area, consultation should take place with the Dublin Corporation to determine the limits within which the corporation system could be extended to supply the northern portion of the County Dublin. Negotiations in regard to this matter have not yet been completed. The provision of a sewerage scheme for Lusk cannot be undertaken until a piped water supply is available.
