Vol. 105 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Bus Service.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the improvement in petrol supplies, he is prepared to authorise reinstatement of the Burrow, Portrane to Donabate bus service, particularly with a view to facilitating old people.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the curtailment of the Donabate to Dublin railway service, he is prepared to authorise the reinstatement of the Portrane to Dublin bus service on a limited scale, even if only twice daily.

I propose to take questions Nos. 10 and 11 together. I am informed by the Great Northern Railway that the extension of the Portrane-Donabate bus service to the Burrow would involve a reduction in the frequency of the service, which is arranged to provide connections with train services.

Despite the recent curtailment of trains there is still a reasonably good service between Dublin and Donabate and the company do not propose to introduce a bus service on the route.
