asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of labourers' cottages it is proposed to erect in County Kerry and when work on them is likely to commence.
Mr. Murphy
The Kerry County Council propose to erect 1,008 labourers' cottages in the county. Sites for 59 cottages are already in the possession of the council and the Department is in communication with the council concerning house designs and lay-out plans. Other sites have been selected and negotiations are proceeding with the landowners in an endeavour to acquire them by agreement. It is not possible at the moment to indicate when the erection of cottages will commence.
