Vol. 111 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider making the post office at Cork a class I office on the grounds that (1) it is the largest office in the State outside Dublin; (2) the volume of work there has increased; (3) it maintains a 24-hour service; (4) the postmaster is paid at class I rate, and (5) Cork is the capital of Munster and the second largest city in the State.

I regret that the upgrading of the Cork office is not warranted. The volume of work there is below the minimum class I standard prescribed by the classification scheme.
