Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether it is proposed to acquire the McEvoy estate at Badger Hill, Kilteel; and, if so, whether he will state the acreage of the holding.

The Land Commission have acquired an area of 180a. 1r. 9p. in the townland of Badger Hill, County Dublin, on the estate of Andrew McEvoy. Of this area, 29a. 1r. 4p. have been allotted. It is not possible to state when the balance will be allotted.

Will the Minister state when that land was acquired by the Land Commission?

In December, 1938.

Ten years ago?

The people will not have to wait for another ten years under the new Minister.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission has yet taken steps to acquire the Remount farm, Lusk, from the Office of Public Works; and, if so, whether he will state when it is expected that allotments will be made available to deserving applicants.

The position is unchanged since my reply to the Deputy's previous question on the 14th April last.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is prepared to acquire the lands of Mr. O'Brien-Hishon, Cloonaclohessy, Shanagolden, County Limerick, for division amongst the uneconomic holders and landless men of the area.

The Land Commission have no proceedings in hands for the acquisition of any lands owned by Mr. O'Brien-Hishon.
